About Me

My name is Brittani Andrews, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I received a bachelor's degree in human development of Family Studies at the University of Missouri in 2014. I achieved a master's degree in counseling psychology at Avila University in 2018. In August 2022, I received a self-esteem life coach certification as well.

I have experience working within private practices, inpatient/outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, residential facilities, and acute inpatient psychiatric hospitals for individuals between the ages of 4 and older. During that time, I have developed the ability to integrate both individual, groups, and family therapy services to provide the best treatment for my clients. I have also gained experience working with professional athletes as well. Working with those populations has taught me how to further my knowledge by finding out different challenges regarding adolescents, couples, families and professional athletes. Based upon my experience, I have observed frequently asked questions about behavior such as “Why is this happening to me? Is this normal? What is preventing me from moving forward?, How can I overcome my abuse or trauma that I have sustained?”. Our job as individuals in society is to take accountability for our own mental health treatment and find out the root to the “whys”.

Unfortunately, life may feel overwhelming in which it may be hard to focus on the positives. Sometimes feeling overwhelmed and stressed can lead to unhealthy coping skills to help fulfill temporary pleasures. The unfortunate experiences that are out of our control can cause stress and impulsiveness. However, being able to learn how to manage our current stressors in a healthier manner can lead to lifelong healing. Although we all yearn for the need of connection and being understood, healing starts with being honest with yourself.

As your therapist, my goal is to provide a non-judgmental environment and a safe space for you to be your true authentic self. I aim to help you to build self-confidence, create and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships, and establish safe and functional boundaries. I also aim to help you process trauma and manage depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. Most importantly, I am highly aware that life circumstances are uniquely different. Therefore, I believe in applying the appropriate treatment modalities that best fits each person’s individual needs.
